The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR), a nonprofit research and training organization, specializes in law enforcement, juvenile justice, criminal justice, and homeland security issues.

IIR provides local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies with assistance needed to implement changes that promote greater governmental effectiveness.

Gangs

  • National Youth Gang Center™ (NYGC)

    NYGC

    The NYGC annually surveys law enforcement agencies to determine the scope of the youth gang problem in the United States. The Center publishes topical reports and reviews of gang literature and operates an electronic discussion forum.

  • Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.)

    G.R.E.A.T.

    The G.R.E.A.T. Program is a school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curriculum. The program's primary objective is prevention and is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership.

  • National Gang Center (NGC)

    The NGC is collaborative effort between the Office of Justice Programs' (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) to provide the latest information about anti-gang programs and links to a wide range of resources with which communities can combat street gangs.

Justice Training

  • Center for Task Force Training™ (CenTF)

    CenTF

    Two different training courses are currently available in the CenTF Program: the Narcotics Commanders Workshop and the Methamphetamine Investigation Management Workshop.

  • Criminal Intelligence for the Chief Executive Briefing (CICE)

    CICE

    The CICE course is a one-day briefing designed for law enforcement leadership. The course provides an overview of the importance of an intelligence capability in a law enforcement agency.

  • Criminal Intelligence Systems Operating Policies (28 CFR Part 23) Technical Assistance and Training

    28 CFR

    State and local agencies that receive federal funding to operate criminal intelligence systems must comply with specific regulations, including those in 28 CFR Part 23. Technical assistance and a half-day class provide information on guidelines for operating criminal intelligence systems.

  • Intelligence Commanders Course

    A two-day course designed for law enforcement intelligence commanders. This training will provide the essential principles to effectively establish and/or operate an intelligence unit.

  • Project Development and Implementation Training (PDIT)

    PDIT

    The PDIT Program offers information and strategies to increase the awareness and capability of criminal justice practitioners and local, state, and tribal agencies to successfully implement, manage, and sustain federally funded criminal justice initiatives.

  • Project Safe Neighborhoods Anti-Gang Training

    The goal of this training is to improve the level of knowledge, communication, and collaboration involved in addressing the criminal gang issue affecting communities throughout the nation. The curriculum is based on current policies and proven practices and strategies in the criminal justice field.

  • State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT®)

    SLATT

    The SLATT Program provides pre-incident preparation and readiness training to state and local law enforcement in the area of anti-terrorism and violent extremist criminal activities. The Program's emphasis is on prevention and early interdiction of violence and criminal activities.
