The PPCD has partnered with, among others, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and the Administration for Children and Families’ Children’s Bureau’s Office on Child Abuse and Neglect to develop the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare (NCSACW). NCSACW provides technical assistance on child welfare and substance abuse issues to national, state, and local agencies as well as family court systems, tribal agencies, and others interested in information regarding these fields. A key feature of NCSACW’s efforts is developing the cross-system partnerships and practice changes that are needed to address the issues of substance abuse disorders among families in the child welfare system. NCSACW works with the substance abuse, child welfare, and court systems, as well as local tribes, to develop and implement strategic plans that improve the response of these systems to families with substance abuse disorders. NCSACW has also developed various technical assistance information, training and curricula, publications, and policy tools which can be downloaded from their website.
