Since its inception in 1987, the FVD has made significant progress toward its goal of improving the lives of domestic violence victims and their children. With the support of numerous government agencies and private foundations, the FVD has become a leader in developing influential publications, hosting major conferences and symposiums, conducting judicial training, and providing family violence resources. PUBLICATIONS FVD publications have influenced the way courts, advocates, and law enforcement work together and have led to significant policy changes at both national and state levels. JUDICIAL TRAINING The FVD provides comprehensive education to judges throughout the U.S. through the following programs: National Judicial Institutes on Domestic Violence Technical Assistance on curriculum and faculty development based on the Institute’s core curriculum Advanced Judicial Institutes for experienced judges
FAMILY VIOLENCE RESOURCES The FVD provides Technical Assistance, which includes specialized family violence information packets, and training to judges and other professionals in the field of family violence through the Resource Center on Domestic Violence: Child Protection and Custody. The FVD Statutes database is dedicated exclusively to domestic and family violence legislation and allows users to search domestic violence laws from all 50 states and the U.S. territories.
