Youth Gambling Prevention and Intervention

From the September 2005 issue of the Brown University Child and Adolescent Behavior Letter’s article, “Problem gambling in youth – a hidden addiction:”

A survey of adolescents found that more than 80% of those between 17 and 17 say they have gambled in the lat 12 months. More than 35% say they gamble at least once a week.

The most popular gambling activities among youth include poker playing, betting on sports and online card playing.

Kids today are the first generation in which gambling has been legal for their entire lives. Gambling today is an acceptable activity and has become more and more popular.
