Examples of Programs and Intervention Models

  • Multi-Systemic Therapy
Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) is designed to reduce barriers to accessing services by delivering them in the home. Therapists have limited caseloads of four to six families to whom they are available on a 24-7 basis and devote an average of 60 hours to a family over four months time. Therapists seek to use the family’s natural strengths to expand upon on therapeutic gains. Reasonable and workable goals are selected primarily by the family in collaboration with the therapist.
  • Multi-Dimensional Treatment Foster Care
This treatment modality is based on the Social Learning Theory model and is a behavioral treatment alternative to residential placement for adolescents who have antisocial behavior, emotional disturbance, and delinquency. The MTFC recruits and trains the delinquent youth’s foster family to provide the youth with clear and consistent limits, provides positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior, a relationship with a mentoring adult and emphasizes separation from delinquent peers.
  • Day Treatment Program
This type of program provides intensive day treatment and aftercare services for boys and girls committed through juvenile courts. It incorporates a transportation service that transports youth to the program in the morning and returns them to their communities in the evening. Key components include attendance in school at the Center, services for special needs such as substance abuse, and work to complete any court sanctions. There is an emphasis on relapse prevention, self-esteem building, family counseling, peer group process and education to promote positive social change.
  • Serious Offender & Serious Violent Offender Programs
This program is based on comprehensive counseling and case treatment services. It is a 180-day aftercare program that uses a one to three staff to student ratio with staff home visits and parental site visits. This is a 365 day per year and 24 hour per day supervision program that is based on a 12 to 18 month length of stay.
