Examples of Programs and Intervention Models Multi-Systemic Therapy Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) is designed to reduce barriers to accessing services by delivering them in the home. Therapists have limited caseloads of four to six families to whom they are available on a 24-7 basis and devote an average of 60 hours to a family over four months time. Therapists seek to use the family’s natural strengths to expand upon on therapeutic gains. Reasonable and workable goals are selected primarily by the family in collaboration with the therapist. Multi-Dimensional Treatment Foster Care This treatment modality is based on the Social Learning Theory model and is a behavioral treatment alternative to residential placement for adolescents who have antisocial behavior, emotional disturbance, and delinquency. The MTFC recruits and trains the delinquent youth’s foster family to provide the youth with clear and consistent limits, provides positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior, a relationship with a mentoring adult and emphasizes separation from delinquent peers.
