The NCJFCJ is working with the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative to help provide information to judges on alternatives to detention. The JDAI Initiative is dedicated to giving youth involved in the juvenile justice system opportunities to develop into healthy, productive adults through core strategies such as:

  • Collaboration
  • Reliance on Data
  • Objective Admission Screening
  • Alternatives to Secure Detention
  • Expedited Case Processing
  • Strategies for "Special" Detention Cases
  • Rigorous Facility Inspections
  • Strategies to Reduce Racial Disparities
Visit the JDAI Help Desk for the latest information and resources on detention alternatives. Additional information on the Initiative is available through the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
