Nearly 300 people turned out on Nov. 9, 2007 to help celebrate NCJFCJ’s 70th anniversary at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks, NV. The elegant, black-tie optional event, which featured live and silent auctions and Henry Winkler as keynote speaker, capped off a year of celebration for this milestone anniversary. Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons talks with Henry Winkler. Well-known actor, director, producer, child welfare advocate and best-selling children's author Henry Winkler told stories about the learning disabilities he suffered as a child, and encouraged the audience to continue making a difference in children’s lives. Nevada Governor and First Lady Jim and Dawn Gibbons also spoke, as did Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice William Maupin, NCJFCJ President Judge Susan Carbon, and Los Angeles Judge and NCJFCJ Board Member Michael Nash, who introduced Mr. Winkler. We are grateful to Victoria Campbell of Reno’s KRNV-TV, Channel 4 who served as emcee, and Dr. Greg “Lightning” Williams who conducted the exciting live auction.
Dr. Greg "Lightning" Williams leads the live auction.
