ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
FAMILY VIOLENCE DEPARTMENT

Salary Range: $82,000 – $92,000 per annum, DOE
FLSA Status: Exempt

Under the supervision of the Family Violence Department (FVD) Director, the Assistant Director will assist in the day-to-day operation of the FVD. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervising management, professional and administrative staff; initiating, organizing and following projects through to completion; providing guidance and expertise on training, technical assistance, and policy development on domestic violence; representing the FVD in a leadership capacity on a national level; and serving as a liaison with other national domestic violence and related organizations. Additionally, this position will write, teach, provide technical assistance, and develop meetings designed to advance the state of the art in domestic violence practice.

The primary functions of the position are to support the department director with leadership of the FVD and attainment of departmental goals, including:

  • providing direct supervision to program managers who oversee FVD workgroups
  • providing training and technical assistance on judicial responses to domestic violence and on child protection and child custody in the context of domestic violence to a range of professionals
  • developing new curricula, bench tools, policy documents, and other materials needed to further FVD goals
  • fostering collaboration with other domestic violence technical assistance providers; and
  • raising funding for FVD projects
