27th Annual Juvenile Probation & Justice Management Conference
October 5-8, 2008  Reno, NV

Single Day Registration now available!

The focus of the 27th Annual Juvenile Probation and Justice Management Conference will be “What Works? Evidence-Based Practice.” Faced with increasingly complex cases and shrinking financial resources, juvenile court personnel are being stretched to the limit. Sessions will examine how to work smarter for better outcomes. Some of the outstanding sessions include: Motivational Interviewing, Multi Systemic Therapy, and the Matrix Model for Methamphetamine Abuse. A separate track will look at issues and challenges in working with juvenile sex offenders, including the Adam Walsh Bill and its impact on juveniles. Management training will be offered in conjunction with the University of Nevada and the National Juvenile Court Services Association for those working in management or hoping to move to management. Opportunities are available for credits toward certification and/or graduate credits toward the Justice Management Master’s Degree. Of special interest to Tribal Courts and county courts that deal with tribal youth will be a session on “The New Face of Justice: Joint Tribal Court - State Court Jurisdiction in Northern Minnesota.”

Join us in Reno, “America’s Adventure Place,” where you can wakeboard in a prehistoric lake, play a few rounds of golf and hit a jackpot all in one day. If you plan on spending a little extra time in Reno be sure to check out the 27th Annual Great Italian Festival on October 11th & 12th, right outside the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino on Virginia Street. The festival will be highlighted by live entertainment on three stages. Located within an hour’s drive from Reno is beautiful Lake Tahoe, famous for world class skiing and golf, along with ice skating, snowmobiling and snowshoeing in the winter months, and horseback riding, camping, rafting, fishing, boating and water sports in the summer.
