3/19/09 -- The U.S. Department of Justice announced that $100 million is available for crime victim programs as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This funding will be administered by the department’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) through its Office for Victims of Crime, which oversees the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) compensation and assistance formula and discretionary grant programs.

Of the $100 million, $47.5 million in formula funding will be directed to state agencies that administer VOCA-funded crime victim compensation programs and $47.5 million in formula funding will be directed to state agencies that administer VOCA-funded crime victim assistance programs. The remaining $5 million will be directed to discretionary grant projects to be awarded under the currently open National Field-Generated Training, Technical Assistance, and Demonstration Projects competitive grant solicitation.

Deadlines to apply for funding vary, but all are imminent.
