Judge Susan Carbon nominated as OVW Director |

10/7/09 -- NCJFCJ past president Judge Susan B. Carbon of Concord, NH, has been nominated by President Barack Obama to the post of Director of the Office on Violence Against Women.
Judge Carbon served as NCJFCJ president in 2007-08. A frequent presenter on domestic violence issues, Judge Carbon has been instrumental in two recent major NCJFCJ projects, including chairing the national conference held in September 2006 on Domestic Violence and Firearms in Los Angeles, and chairing the project which produced the multidisciplinary Effective Issuance and Enforcement of Orders of Protection in Domestic Violence Cases (Burgundy Book), a document used throughout the country and U.S. territories to guide professionals in their work around civil protection orders.
Judge Carbon is the author of several books and articles related to family violence, firearms, judicial selection and retention, and judicial administration, and has served as consultant to numerous groups including the U.S. Department of Justice, Project Harmony and the National Domestic Violence Fatality Review Initiative.
