NCJFCJ will hold its 73rd Annual Conference July 18-21, 2010 in San Diego, CA, a city famous for its idyllic climate, miles of beaches, and world-class family attractions.
More than 500 judges and other court and related professionals and their families, along with faculty, exhibitors, and staff are expected to participate at the conference, which will convene at the Omni San Diego Hotel. The conference will include a wide range of training sessions, Board and committee meetings, an opportunity to attend a San Diego Padres game on Sunday afternoon, and the Installation Banquet on Tuesday evening. Plenary session speakers will include California Supreme Court Associate Justice Carlos R. Moreno, Chair of the California Blue Ribbon Commission on Children in Foster Care, and Law Professor Erwin Chemerinsky of the University of California, Irvine, who will deliver the keynote address on Supreme Court decisions concerning juvenile, domestic, and family law, as well as innovative practice. Workshop sessions will focus on issues including disproportionate minority contact; military deployment and custody; never-married parents; sexually exploited minors; domestic violence and delinquency; trauma; foster care; immigrant families; judicial responsibility in a budget crisis environment; and many others.
