Well known for quality, in-depth technical assistance on a wide range of topics in the field of juvenile and family justice, the NCJFCJ provides assistance and research to judges and court systems around the country, to enable judges and other professionals to collaborate across systems, to work effectively within their communities, and to make well-informed decisions benefiting children and families. Examples of assistance that can be provided are: • Design and implementation of training programs, including provision of materials, publications, judge faculty who are putting this knowledge into practice, and faculty consultants who are recognized not only for their expertise, but also their ability to relate their subject matter to daily practice. • References, resource materials, and in some instances on-site assistance for targeted areas of need in your jurisdiction. Focused technical assistance is available in a variety of areas of juvenile and family law (please see topics below). • Practical, cutting-edge publications containing new information for judges and other professionals. Topical publications are available that can supplement training programs or assist courts in strategizing for systems change or specific improvements. • Research and information that can be used in planning for improved practice, such as national statistics on juvenile crime and evaluation of court performance and trends. NCJFCJ departments are currently assisting several states with state court improvement re-assessments, either in an advisory capacity by offering guidance and feedback on the state’s re-assessment process, or by actually conducting the re-assessment in close collaboration with the state CIP. The extent of NCJFCJ assistance and involvement in research, evaluation or assessment of a jurisdiction’s specific programs or system processes varies depending upon available funding, but please feel free to contact us to discuss how we might help. To submit a request for additional technical assistance, please click on the subject below that most closely relates to your area of interest.
