Non-judicial personnel—including probation officers, court administrators, police, detention workers and other dedicated professionals—are critical to an effective juvenile justice system. The NCJFCJ has long focused on the needs of these professionals through training, publications, and technical assistance. Juvenile justice professionals can enjoy NCJFCJ membership benefits by joining as Associate NCJFCJ members. Joint membership in the National Juvenile Court Services Association can further provide support and enhancement of professional skills. The NJCSA also provides certification for court administrators. NCJFCJ provides training opportunities especially designed for probation and other court staff on issues such as management development, juvenile sex offenders, sanctions, mental health issues, and many others. The 27th Annual Juvenile Probation and Justice Management Conference was recently held Oct. 5-8, 2008 in Reno, Nevada on these issues and more. Please contact us for information about this program.
Other educational opportunities for non-judicial personnel include a new Master’s Degree in Justice Management through the University of Nevada, Reno.
