3/7/06 -- The NCJFCJ’s first national training on juvenile sanctions, “Graduated Sanctions in Juvenile Justice: A National Training,” is scheduled May 7-10, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nev. NCJFCJ is presenting this program in cooperation with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).

This intensive 2-½ day training will offer multiple tracks of six workshops each on graduated sanctions themes ranging from “Getting Started” to deep systems change resulting from successful application of graduated sanctions. Delinquency prevention strategies will be explored, and participants will take a realistic look at detention alternatives for diverse populations in jurisdictions of various sizes.

New “e-tools” will be introduced to help judges and juvenile justice practitioners access data on state legislation in graduated sanctions, and on model programs at all sanctioning levels. These tools will be linked to the NCJFCJ Graduated Sanctions website, and to the NCJJ State Profiles.

The training program will be held at Las Vegas’ new South Coast Hotel and Casino, which is offering an introductory rate of $79 per night. The program’s registration fee is $195 ($220 after April 7).
