Traumatic events can have long-term and negative consequences on those who have experienced such events, including children and youth. Although traumatic events may influence each child differently, some traumatic events may result in learning deficiencies, adversely impacted cognitive processes (e.g., problems with attention and memory, limited problem-solving skills, etc.), undermined school performance, and frequent behavioral challenges.
