Disproportionality Rates for Children of Color in Foster Care (Fiscal Year 2015)

Resources / Report / Disproportionality Rates for Children of Color in Foster Care (Fiscal Year 2015)

Since 2011, the NCJFCJ has been publishing this Technical Assistance Bulletin (TAB) that identifies the disproportionality rates for children of color in foster care. With the public release of 2015 foster care data, new and updated numbers have been calculated. This year’s Disproportionality’s TAB includes the disproportionality index, and measures that compare placements and outcomes by race and ethnicity for children in foster care. Disproportionality trends over the last 5 years are also explored in this year’s report. While disproportionality rates for African American and American Indian youth have decreased slightly, however they still remain highly disproportionate in certain states. A full accounting and individual state numbers can be found in the TAB.
