The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women (OVW), and the Battered Women’s Justice Project (BWJP), is offering interactive virtual training for custody evaluators guiding their work with families experiencing domestic violence. Evaluators will learn from a team of judicial officers, custody evaluators, and civil-legal
advocates experienced in handling these cases and developing creative solutions to the challenges they present for evaluators. Participants will leave this training with a nuanced understanding of how domestic violence impacts family dynamics and a framework for approaching their work and minimizing the harm to the adults and children involved.

There is no registration fee. Space for this training is limited to 40 evaluators. Applications must be submitted no later than September 15, 2021, and will be reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis until we reach capacity.

Due to the varying requirements of different jurisdictions and disciplines, the NCJFCJ does not seek prior accreditation of educational programs for CLE/CEU credits. A Certificate of Attendance will be provided to you upon completion of the program that you can submit to your certifying agency. Please consult the rules of your jurisdiction regarding procedures for receiving continuing education credits. This program may qualify for up to: 15 CLE/CEUs based on a 60-minute hour.

Note: This training is specifically for mental health professionals who conduct full custody evaluations, not for GALs or investigators who do not have mental health training. If you are a Justice for Families, STOP, or other OVW grantee and/or if you have questions about whether this training is appropriate for you, please contact Lynelle Hartway, JD, NCJFCJ Program Manager, at lhartway@ncjfcj.org.
