Know Your Resources

Identify partners who can support your effort, including those persons who can participate in the production of the video itself and/or help with its distribution. You can also identify organizations you wish to build partnerships with and use the PSA production as an opportunity to engage them in the process. Who are the community stakeholders and local child-, family-, and animal-serving practitioners who share your concerns on the impacts of animal cruelty and interpersonal violence that might help you develop and market your video?

Consider the financial resources available for the development and production of the PSA. Can you hire professionals to help with the filming or distribution or are any of your partners able to help? Having a tight budget is not necessarily a limiting factor, and effective PSAs can still be developed through smart use of resources and choices such as media distribution.
