During a five-week period in Texas, more than 2,300 children being separated from their families at the border. The children were placed in a shelter for unaccompanied migrant children where immigration attorneys are saying they have been home to neglect, assault and other horrific abuse.

As children continue to be separated from their families, experts opposing the child-separation policy, including the American Medical Association and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, say that even briefly separating and detaining children has been shown to cause long-lasting harm to them.
