Dependency Case Tracking Data Elements

Resources / Report / Dependency Case Tracking Data Elements

Published in 2003 by the National Center for Juvenile Justice, this report recommends a list of data elements that juvenile and family courts should use to inventory, track and monitor neglect, abuse and dependency cases. Each category provides the data elements, comments or issues to consider, and sample values for designing a case tracking system. The categories include: case identifiers, child/family demographics, addresses, interested parties, petition data, Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), motions, appeals, court hearings, court orders, case/permanent plans, placement history, custody status, child needs/issues, and parent problems.
