Disproportionality Rates for Children of Color in Foster Care (Fiscal Year 2014)

Resources / Report / Disproportionality Rates for Children of Color in Foster Care (Fiscal Year 2014)

Since 2011, the NCJFCJ has been publishing this Technical Assistance Bulletin (TAB) that identifies the disproportionality rates for children of color in foster care. With the public release of 2014 foster care data, new and updated numbers have been created. In addition, this year’s Disproportionality’s TAB adds new measures that compare placements and outcomes by race for children in foster care. Disproportionality rates for African American youth in foster care continue to decrease, while American Indian disproportionality continues to increase nationally, with a small group of states exhibiting extremely high disproportionality. A full accounting and individual state numbers can be found in the TAB.
