This report is the first part of a two-part series that summarizes which states have statutory contempt powers over the parent or parents of a delinquent child. These statutes are in addition to the inherent contempt powers and specifically give juvenile courts the power to punish parents who willfully disobey court orders directed at the parents concerning their child.
