Juvenile Court Statistics 2016 draws on data from the National Juvenile Court Data Archive (Archive) to profile 850,500 delinquency cases and 94,700 petitioned status offense cases handled in 2016 by U.S. courts with juvenile jurisdiction. The report also tracks trends in delinquency and petitioned status cases between 2005 and 2016. The data used in this report were contributed to the Archive by nearly 2,500 courts with jurisdiction over 86% of the juvenile population in 2016.
