This Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Fact Sheet presents statistics on delinquency cases resulting in probation in 2008. Probation supervision was the most severe disposition in 34 percent of all delinquency cases. The number of cases placed on probation increased 33 percent between 1985 and 2008. Property offense cases made up the greatest proportion of the probation caseload. This Fact Sheet is based on the report Juvenile Court Statistics 2008.
