This Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Fact Sheet presents statistics on delinquency cases resulting in probation in 2009. Probation supervision was the most severe disposition in 36 percent of all delinquency cases. The number of cases placed on probation increased 29 percent between 1985 and 2009. Property offense cases made up the greatest proportion of the probation caseload. This Fact Sheet is based on the report Juvenile Court Statistics 2009.
