Resources / Technical Assistance Bulletin / The Role of the Court in Implementing the Family First Prevention Services Act of 2018

The Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) of 2018 provides States and Tribes opportunities to use federal funding to support children and families and prevent foster care placements. The Act focuses on family engagement and evidence-based practices, and requires judicial oversight of the placement and review of children in residential treatment programs to ensure that children are in the least restrictive placement that meets their needs consistent with their permanency plan.

This publication is an overview of FFPSA and how judges can implement FFPSA in their court.
