In 2024, the NCJFCJ’s work impacted approximately 4 million families across the nation. Our publications amassed over 94,000 views, the team fulfilled over 150 requests for technical assistance, and trained over 15,000 judges, judicial officers, attorneys, and other juvenile and family-court related professionals across the nation.

With funding support from the NoVo Foundation, the NCJFCJ provides training and technical assistance to the Denver Juvenile Court to identify and promote promising practices in juvenile and family courts to address child sex trafficking.

The NCJFCJ is funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) to provide targeted support to the Denver Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Team, which is implementing the Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Guidelines and other key recommended practices. The NCJFCJ provides targeted support through court assessments; onsite court observation; strategic planning activities; peer-to-peer learning; and individualized training.

The NCJFCJ presented the Motivational Interviewing Skill Training for the Denver Youth and Family Treatment Court in Denver.

The NCJFCJ will partner again with the National Interdisciplinary Cannabis Symposium for the Fourth Annual Symposium, hosted at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in fall of 2025. As long-standing collaborators, the NCJFCJ continues to support interdisciplinary dialogue on the evolving landscape of cannabis policy, law, and its impacts on youth and families.

The NCJFCJ CEO, Joey Orduña Hastings, attended an Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System Board of Advisors meeting in Denver to advance innovative solutions in the civil justice system.

Multidisciplinary campus professionals representing student conduct, law enforcement, and prevention participated in the Office on Violence Against Women’s Campus Training and Technical Assistance Institute (TTI), an opportunity extended to each campus grantee five times over the course of three years. These in-person institutes combined with webinars and intensive, customized support from national experts are designed to help college and university campuses enhance their capacity to address domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campus.

The NCJFCJ presented the Adolescent Development and Substance Use: Putting the Puzzle Together and Connecting with our Youth and their Caregivers training for the Denver Juvenile Drug Treatment Court team.

In 2024, judicial officers from Colorado participated in the Colorado Juvenile Judges Institute. The Institute brought together a group of expert judicial faculty and other subject matter experts to engage participants through exemplary instruction, case scenarios, and other active learning strategies.

Judge Laurie A. Clark of Denver is a Board Director of the NCJFCJ. Judge Clark, Nikki Borchardt Campbell, NAICJA ED, of Boulder and Sheldon Spotted Elk of Denver served as 2024 Days on the Hill Delegates for the NCJFCJ.
