This one-day, in-person training is designed for judges, court
professionals, and community partners seeking to strengthen
their ability to identify and respond to youth experiencing
homelessness within the justice system. Participants will explore
how housing insecurity often presents in hidden ways, learn to
recognize key red flags, and apply practical, structured approaches
grounded in Housing First and trauma-informed principles.
The training will feature a combination of interactive activities,
expert presentations, and a moderated panel of young people with
lived experience, offering critical insight into the real-world impact
of systems on youth. Participants will also engage with local data,
review the Toolkit for Identifying Youth Experiencing Homelessness
in the Justice System: Using a Structured Process to Recognize Red
Flags and Ensure Housing First Approaches other resources and
explore strategies to reduce barriers to safe and stable housing.
It is our hope that by the end of the session, participants will be
equipped with actionable strategies, strengthened cross-system
connections, and have a renewed and clear commitment to
improving outcomes for youth and families in our community
