More children and youth are killed by firearms than any other cause, including cancer and vehicular crashes. The mere presence of a firearm in a home presents a significant risk for child injury or death, and research shows that exposure to firearms violence is a form of trauma with potential long-term health and developmental consequences. This webinar explores how judges in Nevada presiding over child welfare cases can help prevent firearm violence by and against children and youth through a range of evidence-based approaches. Participants will learn practical strategies from judicial officers from other states who are implementing innovative practices in their courtrooms and in partnership with key court and community partners.
