Non-Legal System Opportunities

Throughout the project, we have recognized that many survivors choose not to engage with the legal system for protection and safety, for many reasons, including historical and systemic violence, abuse, and oppression by legal system stakeholders.  The FTAP sites are encouraged to explore creating, enhancing, and sustaining multiple accessible and effective options for domestic violence survivors who seek protection from firearms, both within and beyond the legal system.  Following are two examples of efforts to establish alternative pathways to safety outside of the current legal system.
