The United States Senate unanimously reauthorized and strengthened the law protecting young people in the juvenile justice system – the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA).

The JJDPA promotes efforts to reduce delinquency and disproportionate incarceration of youth of color as well as to prevent delinquent youth from being jailed alongside adults. It also prevent juveniles from being incarcerated for running away from home or skipping school.

Advocates believe the JJDPA can continue to help at-risk juveniles. Learn more about JJDPA on The Hill.
