Currently, all states have enacted a version of “Megan’s Law,” which requires convicted criminal sex offenders to register with the police, and permits community notification of the offender. However, not all states apply their registration requirements to juveniles. This issue of NCJJ Snapshot discusses these state laws as they apply to juveniles, and contains a map that shows the status of the state laws in this area.
