The Honorable Nhan-Ai Du

The Honorable Nhan-Ai Du is the Chief Juvenile Court Judge of Gwinnett County, Georgia. Appointed to the bench in August 2020, she became the first Vietnamese-American juvenile court judge in Gwinnett County and only the second juvenile judge of Asian descent in the state’s history. A graduate of the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, Judge Du began her career in criminal law as both a public defender and a prosecutor before focusing her practice on juvenile justice. She serves on multiple boards, including the American Bar Association’s Commission on Youth at Risk.
A first-generation refugee, Judge Du was born in an Indonesian refugee camp after her family fled Vietnam by boat and later immigrated to the United States as an infant. Her lived experiences continue to inform her deep commitment to justice and her advocacy on behalf of children and families.
