  • In 2017, an estimated 674,000 children were victims of abuse and neglect
  • Every year, more than 5 million children witness domestic violence in their homes
  • On average, 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the U.S.
  • Based on 2011 dollars, it is estimated the U.S. incurs from $8 to $21 billion per year in long-term costs for the confinement of youth
  • Appropriate $5 million - OJJDP Child Abuse Training Project for Judicial Personnel and Practitioners
  • Reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, and Family Violence Prevention and Services Act
  • Appropriate $18 million - OVW Grants to Support Families in the Justice System
  • Continue support for Office of Justice Programs (DOJ) and Administration for Children and Families (HHS)
  • A competent, well-trained judiciary improving outcomes for children and families and keeping communities safe
  • Collaborative, data-informed, and cost-saving reforms that improve efficiency
